Company Overview
This is a bootstrapped fintech company with a lean, globally distributed team of roughly 15–20 people across multiple regions. The culture is mature, pragmatic, and business-focused, and the company recently completed a U.S. headquarters transition. The founding team brings a strong mix of operational rigor, entrepreneurial experience, and leadership with meaningful fintech scaling experience.
Position Summary
We seek a part-time HR Operations Specialist to provide 10-20 hours per week of strategic HR support, with flexibility for 10-hour weeks and project-based spikes. This role reports to the COO and will work closely with our departing PeopleOps team member during a transition period starting the last week of March 2026.
Core Responsibilities (Priority Order)
1. HRIS & Payroll Management

Manage Rippling platform operations and resolve ongoing integration issues

Oversee payroll processing and compliance across multiple jurisdictions

Troubleshoot system workflows and optimize HR technology stack

Support benefits and compensation strategy initiatives
2. Contractor-to-W2 Conversion Project (April/May 2026)

Lead conversion of majority 1099 contractor workforce to W2 employees

Navigate state tax implications and compliance requirements

Restructure compensation packages and coordinate pay transitions

Ensure legal compliance across multiple states
3. Onboarding & Offboarding Systems

Develop and implement standardized onboarding processes

Create offboarding workflows and documentation
-
Coordinate cross-functional team integration for new hires
Additional Responsibilities

Develop travel expense policies and standard operating procedures

Create employee incentive and recognition programs

Plan and coordinate team off-sites and development activities

Optional: Recruiting support for current openings (including engineering role)
Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience: 5+ years in HR operations, preferably in tech/fintech environments
-
Compliance Knowledge: Multi-state employment law and contractor classification

Systems: Rippling HRIS experience strongly preferred

Work Style: Self-directed, comfortable with distributed teams and async communication

Availability: EST business hours overlap, flexible scheduling
