Fractional Recruiter
People & HR
CAD 55-70 / hour
Role: Fractional Recruiter (generalist with product/tech lean)
Engagement type: Contract / fractional, hourly
Estimated scope: 10β15 hrs/week for the first 1β2 months, with flex as hiring volume changes
Location: Fully remote, anywhere in Canada
Start date: ASAP
Engagement length: 90 days minimum, likely longer (roles phasing in over 3β4+ months)
Mandate
A growing SaaS company needs a recruiter to step in quickly and close immediate hiring gaps. The urgent need is two product hires that must start by early September to allow for knowledge transfer before a team member begins mat leave. Beyond that, expect steady follow-on hiring across a mix of product, technical, and business roles.
Core responsibilities
-
Own full-cycle recruiting: sourcing, managing inbound, pre-screening, and driving process through to offer and day-one start
-
Run pre-screens and first checks so internal interviewers only see qualified candidates β minimize load on senior team
-
Keep the process moving: coordinate interviews, ensure the process is followed, manage offer-stage and pre-day-one handoff
-
Flex capacity up or down as the hiring plan changes month to month
Roles in scope
Immediate (urgent):
- 2 product roles (GTA-based, hybrid) β target start early September
Follow-on pipeline (next 3β4 months):
-
QA
-
Engineers/developers (hybrid preference growing β managers shifting toward more in-person)
-
Finance (controller vs. director still TBD)
-
Ops
-
Account management / customer success
Ideal profile
-
Generalist recruiter with the pendulum swung toward product, engineering, and QA experience β has hired PMs and engineers before and knows those profiles without heavy hand-holding
-
Not a hyper-technical specialist β must also be able to handle finance, ops, and account management hires as they come online
-
Full-cycle operator: comfortable owning candidates from stage one through to day-one start
-
Comfortable in a lean environment with variable, evolving hiring plans (some roles not yet defined)
Nice-to-haves
-
Prior experience across PM, APM, QA, engineering, and finance/AP hiring
-
Startup pace; able to calibrate level of effort after the first couple of weeks
